reflecting

Often it is not easy to distance yourself from the daily hustle and bustle and the 'flavour of the day'. Within your organisation you are part of a 'system' or situation, which can make it difficult to see your own share in it. It is hard to take a step back and look at your own role, your own behaviour and the behaviour of others and reflect all of this. And then the next step, to make a change that is meaningful and significant, is certainly not easy.

To know how to take that step back, in order to bring about change, often works better if you reflect on your conscious and unconscious thoughts, doubts and behaviours with somebody else. Reflecting can be very effective to gain new insights, assess them in the safe environment of a coaching relationship, and then apply them in work and even in private life. Coaching can also be seen as an "island of reflection '.
